Nancy Anne Fray, age 80, of Fairfield, passed away on December 23rd, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Bridgeport to Martha Dakai, Nancy was a Fairfield resident her entire life. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, class of 1956, she worked at CityTrust Bank in Fairfield Center for nearly 20 years and then went on to work in the Purchasing Department at Fairfield University for over 20 years. Married and devoted to the late William R. Fray for 55 years, Nancy leaves behind three children: Nancy, John, and Bill, six grandchildren: Andrew, David, Rachel, Tim, Kevin, and Mary, and one great-grandson: Magnus John Fray. Both Andrew and David are in the process of planning their weddings to Arianna (Andrew) and Deanna (David). Nancy took great joy in watching her grandchildren grow-up and hearing about their achievements. She was a gifted artist who strove for excellence in all that she did, whether it was portrait painting, playing the piano, or cooking. Weekend mornings were frequently spent playing her favorite hymns on the piano and singing. She faithfully attended Fairfield-Grace United Methodist Church for over 40 years. Nancy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, family, and most notably love and compassion. She was a cherished member of her family and community; her presence was a blessing to those around her. She had many enduring friendships throughout her life, most notably, her dear life-long friend, Mary Bergstadt, of La Mirada, California. Nancy was known for being a hard worker and problem-solver,who was always composed with the utmost dignity. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew her. The family offers their gratitude to Elizabeth "Dee" Frank of Visiting Angels, whose care throughout Nancy's last months provided her, as well as her family, with a sense of comfort and friendship. Friends may greet the family and pay their respects to Nancy on Thursday, December 27, 2018, between the hours of 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
