Nikki Rhodes

Nikki Rhodes, age [redacted], passed on January 13, 2025, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Nikki was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, partner, colleague and friend who put her heart and soul into everything she did. All who knew her are devastated by this unexpected loss.

Nikki was a life-long educator and student with degrees in teaching, special education, school psychology, and school administration, most of which were earned at night while working and raising a family. She was born and raised in San Diego, CA. Her first teaching job, which she accepted over the phone, was in Anchorage, Alaska. She packed her VW Bug and made the long drive solo. In 1976, the family moved to Woodbury, CT. She spent nearly 30 years as Assistant Principal at Broadview Middle School in Danbury, CT and most recently as a school psychologist in Stratford, CT. She was a fierce advocate for kids and teens. 

She is survived by her three children, Tanya Rhodes Smith, Brett Rhodes, and Justin Rhodes; their spouses Robert Smith, Melissa Rhodes, and Cameron Munro; her grandchildren Amelia, Graham, Everett, Brandon, and Bailey; her siblings, Mark Norstrom and Jerine Stuart; and her partner, Joseph Giaquinto. While she traveled extensively, her greatest joy came from living down the street from family. Her dedication extended to her beloved dog Enzo, who was always by her side.

A service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in Fairfield, CT at 3:00 pm to celebrate her life. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the ninth-floor care team at St. Vincents Medical Center for their care and compassion.
