Norine Mary Hernandez

Norine Mary Steeves Hernandez, age 59, of Stratford, passed on Friday, November 20, 2020 after a stay at Milford Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, Norine was raised in Stratford and was a lifelong resident. She attended Housatonic Community College to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Education. She would spend over 20 years dedicating her life to children, working in daycare, in classrooms as a teacher's aide, as well as caring for special needs children. Norine would get out to the beach any chance she could get, and could always be caught looking at the birds no matter where she was. She was defined by her love for rock music, which reflected in her vibrant spirit and personality. All who knew Norine would agree she was the most kind and gentle person you could find. She would always do what she could for others, and would give the clothes off her back to a friend in need. After losing her father, with whom she was very close, she always spoke of him in a way that kept his spirit alive, even after 27 years. In addition to her beloved husband, Julian Hernandez, Norine is survived by five loving children, Paul William Steeves Hernandez, Abigail M. Hernandez, Daniel R. Hernandez (Sigourney), Raymond P. Hernandez, and Jose R. Hernandez; two cherished grandchildren, Sophia Lisa-Esther Colon and Callie J. Hernandez; a devoted sister, Linda Burlison; an adored niece and nephew, Cindy Peterson (Jennifer) and Patrick Burlison (Kate); as well as her aunt and uncle, Norine and William Baxter. Norine is predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Lou Steeves, as well as her dear brother-in-law, Jerry W. Burlison.
