Omer Albert Cyr died on November 27, 2018, his 92nd birthday. He was born to Elise and Edmund in Rumford, Maine. Omer graduated from Bassick High School in 1945 and then entered the Air Force and served as a Sergeant. Omer married the love of his life, Ruth Smith, in 1949 and they had 3 children. He worked as a Director of Purchasing for Bridgeport Metal Goods before his retirement. His hobbies included golf, gardening, cooking, working on his computer or playing on his iPad, but will be best remembered for telling jokes.

Omer served as Director of the CT Purchasing Managers Association. He was Past President of the Monroe Exchange Club and Past President and long time Secretary of the Monroe Lions Club. Omer served as a sexton at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Monroe. He was honored by many organizations for his service and was Lion of the Year in 1992-93. Omer was involved with many community service organizations where he volunteered countless hours of his time. He is survived by his loving children, Holly and wife, Cindy, Dennis and wife, Brenda, and Phillip and wife, Kristin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Dylan, Nathan, Ashley and Dillan and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, Ruth, his brothers Clarence, Arthur, Roland, Roger, and his sister Jeannine.
A private memorial service will be held in the future.
