Patrick J. Doherty, age 86, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Barbara Jane (Lasagna) Doherty, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Stamford to the late Patrick and Mary (Reilly) Doherty, Patrick served in the United States Navy during the Korean War for four years on the USS Brownson (DD 868). After his service, he and his wife Barbara settled in Fairfield where they would live together for nearly 60 years. Pat worked as a manager for the Southern New England Telecommunications Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2220, Fairfield. Pat loved being outdoors and soaking up the sun. He enjoyed trips to the local beaches, traveling to Vermont and up the coast of Maine with his wife. Pat always welcomed the company of family and friends and was happy to spend time to share stories and laughter together. Throughout his life, as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he took every opportunity to teach his children on manners, fairness, respect, and good sportsmanship. He made sure his family was safe and smart in the ways of the world, to do well, and provide for their families. Although he was not outwardly expressive with his emotions, we knew and felt his love. During his final days he was sure to say out loud how proud he was of his family for working hard to do well and taking care of each other. He was especially proud and at peace knowing Barbara is strong and able to take care of everything, and that the whole family would always be there for her. In addition to his devoted wife, Barbara, Patrick is survived by four children and their spouses, Patrick Michael Doherty (Tamara) of Woodbury, Susan Anderson (Scott) of Wallingford, VT, Colleen Gilbertson (Gregory) of Trumbull, and Laurie Fusco (Richard) of Shelton; his sister, Agnes Peterson; as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Cheers to a good life and peace forever - We love you! Patrick was predeceased by two of his sisters, Mary Ellen Kotches and Katherine Zurkowski. For the health of friends and family members, public services for Patrick will be postponed; a formal announcement will be made when it is safe for all to gather. A private service will be held at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project ( P.O.
