Paul Dolson, age 87, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Cambridge, MA, the son of the late Charles and Frances (Ryan) Dolson, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1963. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Husson College in Bangor, ME and his Masters in Education from Fairfield University. He also received his 6th and 7th Year diplomas. Paul taught Business Law and Typing at Roger Ludlowe and Fairfield High School retiring in 1996. In 1999 following his retirement, Paul began a long and rewarding career as a Fairfield Special Police Officer where he developed many great friendships with his fellow officers. He was a member the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 2220 in Fairfield where he was past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy. He was a member of the Gaelic American Club, the National Association of Naval Veterans, Port 5 and the Norden Club. Survivors include two beloved sons, Peter D. Dolson of Fairfield and Michael P. Dolson of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister, Ruth Merrullo of Waltham, MA; the mother of his sons, Mary Polen of Seminole, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Walter, Jack, Robert, Terry and Charlie Dolson, Clare Johnson, Olive Tebbits, Charles Dady and Arthur Dady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. A walk-through visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home. Social distancing and face masks are required for the wake and the Mass. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Fairfield Police Department.
