Paul L. Magnano, 79, of Southport, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 8th 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his adoring wife, Margherita, and his beloved Italian family, his aunt, Angela Magnano, Anna & Michele Ferro, Paolo Magnano, Anna Maria D'Amico, Gianna & Gianfranco Fasce, and many Italian cousins and friends. He is also survived by his devoted sister-in-law Joanna Smith and her husband Jack, his brother-in-law Frank Picone, and his wife Manami, his nephews Matthew Smith, Travis & Carrie Smith and a great niece, Aubrey Lee Smith. His little black cat T.C. will miss him terribly.
He was born in Manhattan, lived many years in Greenwich Village, and was a graduate of St. Francis College in Brooklyn. His work was in the financial industry, he was one of the last of the "Old Wall Street Guys" with a career at Northwestern Mutual that spanned 45 years. He never called it work and had a computer in his lap 3 days before he left us.
Paul was a proud Marine, loved his country and was an unabashed Patriot. His Italian heritage was also important to him and he was a member of Tiro A Segno, New York. He loved to cook and the dining room in his home was always full of food and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to any U.S. Marine Corps Charity or Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Greenwich Village.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii, Greenwich Village on Saturday, September 28th at 11AM.
His ashes will be interred at the Family Mausoleum in Finale Ligure, Italy.
