Peter L. Cummings

Peter Leonidas Cummings, born on May 31, 1936, in Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, in Stratford, Connecticut. He was the beloved son of the late Leonidas and Elizabeth Cummings.

Peter was predeceased by his cherished wife, Maureen (Lattin) Cummings. He leaves behind three loving children: Deborah Abramowitz of New Haven; Kathleen Lenahan and her husband Michael of Stratford; and Jeffrey Cummings and his wife Laurie of Oxford, his sister in law Dorothy Szymansky and her husband Jerry, his sister in law Joan Carpenter and late husband Gary his brother in law Tom and Sue Lattin and several nieces and nephews. His memory will be deeply treasured by all who knew him.

A graduate of Bassick High School, Peter built a successful career with SNET, where he worked for more than 40 years before retiring to Venice, Florida. In retirement, he embraced his passions and enjoyed life to the fullest.

An avid softball player throughout his life, Peter found joy both on the field and as a devoted sports fan. He cheered enthusiastically for the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and UConn Women's Basketball.

Peter's warmth and love for life left an indelible mark on those around him. May his memory bring comfort to his family and friends during this time of loss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Friday December 20 at St. Ann’s Church, 481 Brewster St., Bridgeport. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Stratford Little League, PO Box 605, Stratford, CT 06615.
