Philip P. Fracassini, age 94, of Fairfield, beloved husband of nearly 60 years of Janice Fracassini, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport one of nine children to the late Mario and Mary Fracassini, he was a lifelong Fairfield resident and a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. Mr. Fracassini proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the Americal Division and participated in the battles and campaigns in the Northern Solomon and Philippine Islands and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired in 1982 from the Fairfield Police Department as a Detective Sergeant. Following his retirement he worked in security for Dollar Dry Dock Bank. Phil was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius X Church and regularly served as an usher for the 10:30 A.M. Sunday Mass. He was a member of the Gaelic American Club, Fayerweather Yacht Club, Fairfield PBA and the Fr. Coleman Council of the Knights of Columbus. He coached little league in Fairfield for many years, enjoyed playing golf, was a talented baseball player, ice skater and dancer, and had a joking, kind and loving spirit. Above all else, Phil loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his loving wife Janice, survivors include four beloved children, Philip Fracassini and his wife Karen of Midland Park, NJ, Mary Brenneman and her husband Andrew of Leesburg, VA, Amy Leslie and her husband John of Hingham, MA, and Paul Fracassini of Stamford, CT; four cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Trey Fracassini, and Andrew and Hannah Brenneman; his brother John Fracassini, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
