Ralph F. Fortuna, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on July 2, lovingly surrounded by family, at the age of 83.


The youngest of six children, Ralph was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Fortuna; siblings Ray Fortuna, Mary DiMartino, Pat Fortuna, Ann Skubas, and Stella Barrett. Ralph is survived by his first wife, Rena Fortuna, daughters Anna Fable and her husband John, Maria Fortuna, Lisa Fortuna  and her husband Ken Wokanovicz, and son Michael Fortuna. He also leaves behind his four beloved grandchildren John Fable Jr., Ali Fable, Erika Fortuna, and Angela Fortuna, along with his many nieces and nephews.


After graduating from Harding High School in Bridgeport, Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. While assigned to the U.S. 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean, Ralph visited Greece where he met and fell in love with Rena Apergi. After marrying in Greece, they raised their family in Connecticut. He was a long-time dedicated employee of Hiram Walker, Inc. As a Displayman, Ralph utilized his creativity. He later worked for Eder Bros where he stayed until retirement.
Ralph was a member of the Fairfield Lions Club and he later joined the Niantic Lions Club. As an active member of the Lions Club for almost 50 years, Ralph received numerous awards and was a key contributor for many fund-raising events including the Memorial Day Floats and Annual Lobster Festival.


Besides telling jokes guaranteed to make you laugh, Ralph was passionate about many activities. Some took place on Long Island Sound where he enjoyed his boat, and lobstered, fished, and clammed. Ralph also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, was a competitive Bocce player and played Cribbage and cards. Ralph truly enjoyed social gatherings. His genuine and playful personality would always put a smile on your face. His bright smile, caring blue eyes and big heart will be greatly missed.
