Rev. Dr. Don R Studer

Rev. Dr. Don R. Studer, age 83, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Rev. Arlene B. Studer, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in North Canton, Ohio the son of the late Clair and Pauline Studer he had been a Fairfield resident for over 40 years. Rev. Dr. Studer received his Bachelors degree in Theology from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH, a Bachelors Degree, and later a Doctor of Ministry from the Theological Seminary in Lancaster, PA and Masters Degree in Sacred Theology from Gettysburg Theological Seminary. Don served at Incarnation UCC in Newport, PA, Faith UCC in Center Valley, PA, the United Congregational Church in Bridgeport and also held various interim pastoral duties at various churches in the local area. Both he and his wife were currently members of First Church Congregational in Fairfield where Don assisted when called upon. He served on the Board of Directors and was past President at the Bridgeport Council of Churches and on the Board of the Connecticut Conference of the UCC. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and playing hand bells in various hand bell choirs. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two children, Elizabeth A. Studer of Westfield, MA and David P. Studer and his wife Margaret of Kent; three grandchildren, Erin, Emily and Elana Studer; a sister-in-law Beverly Studer of Delaware, OH and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Studer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational, Fairfield with the Rev. David Spollett, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be private.
