Rev. Arlene B Studer, 90, of Fairfield passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. Don Studer. She was born in Lansdale, PA on May 26, 1933 to the late Roger and Helen Byers.
A woman of great faith, Arlene found her passion in serving the Lord and her community. She received an art degree from Kutztown College in PA, then went onto Lancaster Seminary where she studied Christian Education. This is where she met her future husband Don, and they were married in 1956.
In 1972 she received her Masters and was ordained from Moravian Theological Seminary. She held a ministerial position at Trinity UCC in Freemansburg, PA. After moving to Connecticut with her family, Arlene held a position at Bridgeport Hospital until around 1981, working with staff and families on how to deal with death and dying. She also held a ministerial position at a UCC Church in Trumbull (Unity Hill).
In her free time Arlene enjoyed painting and traveling. However, some of her greatest joys were being with her family and friends. She especially loved the family trips each summer to York, ME.
Arlene is the devoted mother of Elizabeth A. Studer and her husband Jerry and David P. Studer and his wife Margaret. She is the adoring grandmother to Erin Barnes (husband Tommy and son Finley), Will Studer and Elana Studer (fiance Kevin Briggs). She leaves behind many dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Byers, in 2017.
A Memorial service will be held at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT 06824 on Saturday, March 23rd, at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Church Congregational in Arlene’s name.
