Richard A. Camella

Richard Camella, 73, of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Richard was born March 11, 1949 in Sandusky, Ohio to Antoinette Buiting and Frank Camella.

Richard was a 1967 graduate of Sandusky High School, Sandusky, OH; a 1969 graduate of United Electronics Institute, Akron, OH; and a 1988 graduate of The Wharton School, Pennsylvania.

After having worked at various companies throughout his career (Norden Technologies, Dataswitch Solutions, Ekinops Corporation, and ADVA Systems) as an information/optical supervisor and consultant, Richard retired in 2015. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Highland Golf Club in Shelton, CT. He also enjoyed solving sudoku puzzles, doing home repair work for his children, and prioritizing spending time with family making special memories.

Predeceased by his parents and his brother, Tom Camella, Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Elvia Sanz Camella; his daughters, Kimberly Camella Roy (Jeffrey) of Shelton, CT, and Christine Camella Esposito (Chad) of Stratford, CT; his step-son, Franciso R. Borres (Melissa) of Monroe, CT; his brother, Ted Camella (Alicia) of Rockledge, FL; his sister, Janice Trent (Gary) of Sandusky, OH; his sister-in-law, Karen Camella of Bayview, OH; his ex-wife, Dianne Camella of Monroe, CT; and his precious grandchildren, Francisco K. Borres, Brady Roy, Luke Roy, Mia Esposito, and Mina Borres. He is also survived by many cousins and cherished nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Richard’s honor to American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741) or Holy Angels Catholic Church (428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870)
