Richard Kuroghlian, age 84 of Fairfield, beloved husband of nearly 55 years of Lucy (Krushinski) Kuroghlian, passed away peacefully Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, the son of the late Sarkis and Mildred (Fanelli) Kuroghlian, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 55 years. He was a graduate of Stratford High School. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 in the Third Armored Calvary stationed in Germany, and also played trumpet in the Army Ceremonial Band. He worked for Moore Special Tool and retired from the Southern CT Gas Company after a 26 year career. Richard served as a one of the longest tenured Fairfield Special Police officers serving for over 20 years. He coached Fairfield Little league, served on the Board of Directors for Fairfield Pop Warner football and coached the championship basketball team for the Southern CT Gas Company. He was an avid golfer and die-hard UConn Women’s Huskies fan. Richard loved Frank Sinatra and always enjoyed listening to his music with Lucy. In addition to his loving wife, he will be sadly missed by two beloved sons, Richard Kuroghlian and his wife Suzanne of Trumbull and Jeffery Kuroghlian and his wife Tammy of Trumbull; four cherished grandchildren, Kylie, Matthew, Caroline and Jack as well as several nieces, nephews and dear cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Kuroghlian. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd, Fairfield. Interment with military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. A walk-through visitation will be held Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Face masks and social distancing will be required for all the services.
