Robert T. Firgelewski

Robert T. Firgelewski, age 65 of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Janis E. Firgelewski, passed away suddenly Monday, January 20, 2014. Born in Norwalk, the son of the late Theodore and Katherine Firgelewski, he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. Bob was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended the University of Arizona, Norwalk Technical College and the University of New Haven. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and also briefly served in the National Guard. He was employed for many years in the Building Maintenance Department for the Town of Fairfield, retiring in 2013. He was an accomplished contractor who proudly remodeled his home. Bob also loved to cook and share recipes with his friends. He will be fondly remembered for his love for his family and friends and for his friendly personality. Survivors include two beloved children, Charlotte A. Firgelewski and Jonathan R. Firgelewski of Fairfield; two cherished granddaughters, LeAnn M. and Audrie E. Leko; a sister, Alice Kurensky of Naugatuck; a niece, Christie Spooner and a nephew, Joseph Kurensky, III. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary at First Church Congregational, Fairfield. Military honors will be rendered following the service. Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday, January 24, from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
