Robert H. Larkin of Fairfield CT passed away peacefully at his home on September 20, 2022, at age 100. Robert was born in Bridgeport CT. He was the oldest of ten children of Eva and Francis Larkin.
Robert served in the 5th Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After leaving active service Robert began working at Rolock, Inc, Fairfield CT, as an engineering assistant. He ended his business career as principal owner of Rolock until his retirement in 1988. Robert was an outstanding athlete; he played baseball, softball and skied well into his 80's. Robert was very proud of his Irish heritage. He was active in the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield. At home, in addition to his family, he was devoted to a series of pet dogs and cats.
In 1943 Robert married Helen Norton of Stratford CT. They remained together in Fairfield until her passing at age 89. Robert and Helen had four children: Dennis, the oldest, followed by Eileen (Fox), Timothy, and Robin (Redford). Robert is survived by his four children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother Richard.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Helen, his brothers William, Charles, and Francis, and his sisters Catherine, Agnes, Gertrude, Margaret, and Ann.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday September 23, 2022, at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 a.m. until the service time. Interment with military honors will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or to Tunnel to Towers. Robert will be missed by family, friends and neighbors.
