Robert Swanbery, of Fairfield, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, January 6, 2023. Bob passed at the age of 89 years old at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania in 1933, son of Robert and Nell Swanbery. He grew up in Bridgeport attending Harding High School, class of 1951. He then attended the University of Connecticut, class of 1955. Bob served in Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from 1956-1958, where he met his loving wife. He earned his MBA at the University of Bridgeport while working at Pitney Bowes and raising his family. He worked at Pitney Bowes in business management and marketing for 33 years. He later moved on to Ascom Hasler, where he holds eight patents, until he retired in 1998. After retirement, he served as President of his HOA community. Bob was also a member of St. Pius X Parish for 64 years.
Bob’s great sense of humor always had us laughing with his quick wit and endless jokes. He was an avid reader and bird watcher. He loved to watch UCONN basketball as well as other sports such as golf and tennis. Bob enjoyed his many road trips travelling across the country to all of our national parks. He was very talented at constructing any at-home project by hand with his amazing attention to detail. Bob was a dedicated husband, father, brother and grandfather; his most treasured moments were those spent with his loving family.
Bob is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 64 years, Teresa, as well as his sons, Scott Swanbery (fiancé Tabitha Corella, and her son Richard) of Arizona, and Adam Swanbery (wife Elisabeth and her children William and Sophia) of Virginia; his daughters, Sharon Forrest (husband Steven) of Georgia, and Beth Remeika (husband Mike) of Trumbull; his sister, Nancy Cantwell (husband Jim and their family) of New Hampshire; and all his wonderful grandchildren, Ryan & Reese Remeika, Sean & Sydney Forrest, and Nicolette & Nathan Swanbery, all of who were his pride and joy.
