Robert R. Thomas

Robert R. Thomas, age 87, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 64 years to Barbara (Moran) Thomas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Thursday, April 13, 2023.  Born in New Rochelle, NY, the son of the late Patrick and Mary Thomas, he had been a Fairfield resident since he was six years old.  Bob grew up in the Pine Creek section of Fairfield where he met his beloved Barbara.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Bob retired from Pepperidge Farm following 30 plus years of service.  In his younger years he served as a volunteer fireman.  He was a member of the Gaelic American Club.  Bob’s great love was spending time on Long Island Sound on his beloved Grady White.  He was an avid fisherman and clammer and loved gardening.  He was a member of numerous bowling leagues, proudly bowling a 300 game! In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Bob will be sadly missed by his two sons, Brian R. Thomas and Scott R. Thomas of Fairfield; his cherished granddaughter, Melinda L. DaSilva of Fairfield; two sisters, Catherine Egan of Newtown and Eileen Thomas of Fairfield; two sisters-in-law, Adele Thomas of Fairfield and Ann Cisero of Fairfield and several beloved nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Michele A. Thomas, grandson, Ricardo J. DaSilva, III (Joey) and siblings, Jack Thomas, Packy Thomas and Marion Queripel.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Fairfield.  Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.  Prior calling hours have been omitted.  In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Bob’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 S.
