Rodney T. Wasel

Rodney T. Wasel, 85, of Fairfield, passed away on February 5, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Judith Haniquet Wasel. Rodney was born in New Britain on May 4, 1939, to the late Edward and Lottie Kalinowski Wasel.

Rodney worked as an Engineer for Pitney Bowes for over 40 years, but it was clear that his love of building and fixing things extended far outside his job. He will be remembered by his community as the neighborhood handyman, always happy to help. He cared deeply for his friends and family and as a devout catholic he served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Outside of all these commitments, he loved to spend his free time surrounded by nature and regularly indulged in his favorite hobbies, gardening, fishing, hunting, and working as a trail steward for Aspetuck Land Trust. He spent many years traveling with his wife and friends and eventually traded his suitcase for his favorite recliner and a good book. His pride and joy were his grandkids, he was always excited to try whatever new thing they introduced him to. Rodney had a full, beautiful life and will be remembered by all as the friendly, hardworking man he was.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his daughter Suzanne, his grandchildren Alex, Julia, Lilah and his daughter-in- law, Karen. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas, his parents, and brother James.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 22 at 10AM at St. Pius X Church, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
