Rose Mauro

Rose Mauro, 93, of Fairfield, CT passed peacefully on August 11, 2017 with her family by her side. Rose was a typesetter for the Town Crier Newspaper in Fairfield and the Westport News. She enjoyed volunteering at the Westport Country Playhouse and was a voting poll moderator for the Town of Fairfield for many years. She was also a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield, CT. Rose loved to sing with her friends at the Roger Sherman Inn and the Spinning Wheel. Her proudest roles were homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rose loved to cook, bake, and entertain. We will particularly miss her eggplant parmesan, apple Pie and her "S" cookies

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Gene J. Mauro, Sr. She is survived by her children, Carole Gray and her husband Marvin of Palm Harbor, FL; Frank Mauro and his wife Susan of Alpharetta, GA; Gene J. Mauro, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Monroe, CT; Lucille DiGrazia and her husband Michael of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Josephine DeSousa of Cherry Hill, NJ; her fourteen grandchildren, Gloria Mauro and Johanna Gray; Lynn, Brett, and Ericka Mauro; Lisa, Brandon, Devin, and Veronica Mauro; Tyler, Julia, Hunter, Aiden, and Dylan DiGrazia; and one great-grandson, CJ Ormond, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Bayou Gardens Assisted Living in Dunedin, Florida and the Pearl Team at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida for the exceptional care they provided.
