Rosemary Adelene Smith

Rosemary Adelene Smith, 87, a long time resident of Fairfield, Peacefully left this Earth for Heaven on August 9th 2017, Peacefully with her children at her side.
Born October 15th 1929 she was the daughter of Robert and Katherine Haskins of Savoy Mass.
After graduating high school Rosemary worked at General Electric in Pittsfield Ma. She married Barry Smith of Dalton Mass. , the love of her life in November 1953. They eventually settled in Fairfield to raise their children. The Smiths were members of Saint Thomas Aquinas Church.
Rosemary participated in all of her children's activities. She was at every venue: classrooms, meetings, games, karate, parade routes, and performances. She was the mom and in later years the grandmother that was the greatest cheerleader and fan enjoying the interests and successes of her family. She loved music and was always humming or singing a tune. She enjoyed bowling, driving the back roads, chatting with neighbors and friends. Celebrations with the family at her childhood home "the farm' in Savoy were some of her favorite times.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Barry, brothers Winslow, Fredrick, Douglas and Robert Haskins, sister and Marion Best. Rosemary is survived by sister Elizabeth Haskins, son Bruce and wife Amy, son James and wife Jean, daughter Susan and spouse Patricia Schonwetter, daughter Karen and husband Mark DiGirolamo, daughter MaryJane and husband James O'Connor, grandchildren Michael, William and Rebecca, Kristina, Dan, Barry, Dillon and Bridgid and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She will be missed by all of us in many ways. We take comfort in knowing that she will welcome us with open arms when we meet her again.
The family would like to thank All of her friends and neighbors. A special thank you to the staff at the Alzheimer's center who took care of her with love and compassion in her final days.
Friends may call Friday August 11th from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. At Spear Miller funeral home in Fairfeild CT. There will be a service there at 7pm. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Spruce Corner Cemetery, Savoy, MA
