Sally (Molloy) Williams, 91, beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020.
Sally was born in Bridgeport on January 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Sarah (Gallagher) and Edward Molloy. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School as a member of the National Honor Society, and from Weylister Junior College. Early on, Sally worked at a law firm and later at Fairfield University, where she spent more than 24 happy years. She joined the University's Staff Association and took full advantage of its Olympic-size swimming pool. She loved the beach, spending time in her garden, and held her own at the bowling alley.
Upon retirement, Sally joined the University's Retiree Association and became an active member of Fairfield's Senior Center, where she took a variety of exercise classes, including yoga and Zumba, and joined the Pacers walking group. She volunteered at the Connecticut Audubon Society and Fairfield Public Library, regularly enrolled in Lifelong Learners courses, and did a bit of traveling, in the States and abroad. Throughout, one of Sally's greatest joys was spending time with her five grandsons.
An avid reader, Sally will be remembered for her good nature and warm, generous heart. With a loving, nurturing spirit, she was beloved by her three children, Amy Williams and her husband William Garfinkel of Watertown, CT, Sally Williams, of New London, CT, and David Williams and his wife Tracy Collins Williams, of East Lyme, CT; five grandsons, Daniel, Liam, and Sean Williams, and Jacob and Benjamin Garfinkel; sister Ann Carey of Longmeadow, MA; and 11 nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brother Edward Molloy of Yarmouth, ME, and brother-in-law, John Carey of Longmeadow, MA.
