Sarah C. Lyons

Sarah C. Lyons, age 92 of Fairfield, beloved wife of 56 years to the late David Patrick Lyons, Jr., passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Connolly, she had been a Fairfield resident for nearly 50 years. She graduated from the Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia where she played Cello in the school band. She worked as an X-ray technician prior to marrying Dave and raising their family. When her children were older, Sarah assisted Dave in his business; Lyons & Lyons, Certified Public Accountants. Sarah was a member for many years of the Patterson Club. She loved to travel and play the piano and honed her talents from playing at a very young age. Sarah attended all her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and never wanted to miss the opportunity to support her family. She was a devout Roman Catholic, and a parishioner of St. Pius X Church since moving to Fairfield. She was a strong believer in divine intervention and could be seen at Mass daily praying for a good grade or a victory on the playing field. From her earliest years, she loved spending time at the Jersey Shore where she met Dave on a high school band trip and always looked forward to the annual family vacations. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always placed the needs of her family first. Survivors include four beloved children, David Patrick Lyons, III and his wife, Kathleen of Ridgefield, Patty O'Donnell and her husband, Tom of Milford, Bob Lyons and his wife, Nancy of Southport and Chris Lyons of Milford; ten grandchildren, David and Megan Lyons, Tommy, Sarah O'Donnell Hughes and her husband Justin, John and Bridget O'Donnell, Bobby, Allison and Jack Lyons and Isabella Lyons; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Hughes; a brother, John Connolly of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Altman and a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Lyons. The family would like to thank Sarah's caregivers, Arlene Richards White and Evette Williams for their care and devotion, and the staff at the Watermark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
