Scott Farquhar

Scott Farquhar, age 70, of Fairfield, died peacefully, Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home.  He was surrounded by, his devoted family who loved him dearly.

Scott died after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer.  He is survived by: his beloved wife Debbie of 46 years, his cherished sons; Doug (wife Rita) and Andrew (partner Mia), and his sister Vicki Cook (husband Dan). Scott loved and was loved by a large extended family and a multitude of friends.  Scott is predeceased by, his parents, Jack and Peggy Farquhar. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 25th, 1951 and was raised in Lafayette Hill, PA. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences and then obtained his MBA at the UCONN School of Business.  Scott enjoyed a long and successful career in banking spanning 42+ years. The last 35 years were at JP Morgan where he retired as a Senior Vice President/Credit Executive.

Scott lived a full and meaningful life marked by his passion, enthusiasm, and full engagement of whatever came his way. He spent his entire life living in the moment and he inspired others to do the same. A few of his avid interests were: skiing, hiking, sailing, reading, golfing, disc golf, tennis, fishing (even though he never caught anything), bird watching, swimming in the sound and watching the sun rise. He loved listening to music and singing. At age 66, he started to play the drums, which was a life long dream. But, nothing was more important to him than spending time with his beloved family and friends. He was a joyful man, who inspired and nurtured countless people. Knowing him made you want to be a better person.

He was a warrior, who never complained, even though the surgeries and treatment seemed at times insurmountable. He was so kind to all who took care of him. Whether it was at home, the hospital or Hospice, he had a smile on his face, getting to know everyone that treated him. We would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Memorial Sloane Kettering, and everyone who treated him through Hospice.

Friends and family may visit on Saturday July 30 from 11AM-2PM. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM in the funeral home.

Scott was the type of human the world needs now more than ever. He was loving, caring, sincere, honest, curious, and passionate. He will be sorely missed by, everyone who knew him.

Scott loved the outdoors that is where he was the happiest. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Save the Sound. https://www.savethesound.org/donate or the Northeast Wilderness Trust https://newildernesstrust.org/giving/
