Shannon Elizabeth Hoey, daughter of Richard and Wendy Steinfeld, passed away suddenly on May 3, 2022, at the age of 43. Shannon was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend to many. Her strength, intelligence, and compassion will leave a lasting impression in our hearts and minds. We will miss her quick wit and humor that kept us smiling and laughing.
Shannon was born in Mayfield Heights, OH, but spent most of her childhood and adult years in Fairfield, CT. She earned a B.A. in English from Chaminade University of Honolulu and a M.A. in Counseling and Guidance Services from Fairfield University. Shannon was a school guidance counselor, office coordinator, and later in her career, an executive assistant.
Shannon’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She married John Patrick Hoey and had two beautiful daughters and three wonderful stepchildren. She loved helping her children learn and grow and was the biggest fan and supporter of their sports endeavors. Shannon was also an avid reader and a member of Greenfield Hill Congregational Church.
Shannon is survived by her husband Patrick Hoey; daughters Anna and Lilly; stepchildren Georgia, Finnegan, and Murphy Hoey; parents Richard and Wendy Steinfeld; two sisters, Heather Pida and her husband Michael and children Julia and Lucas and Ashley Suckow and her husband John; and Patrick’s two brothers, John Thomas Hoey and his wife Lisa and John Joseph Hoey and his wife Tracy.
Visiting hours will be held at Spear Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
Services to remember and celebrate Shannon’s life will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, CT. There will be a church service at 3:00pm and a reception from 4:00pm – 6:30pm at the church house across the street. The service will be live streamed: youtube.com/greenfieldhillchurch .
