Sharon Chase Nechasek, age 76, of Shelton, died on Friday, April 20, 2018A at St. Joseph's Center in Trumbull of acute dementia. Born in Hornell, New York on April 21, 1941, she was the daughter of Carroll and Frances (Dillion) Chase. She graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport, CT and received her bachelor degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joseph, daughter Sara, son-in-law Daniel, grandson Jackson, brother Gordon, nephews and a niece. Sharon held numerous community service positions beginning with the Red Cross in New York City and Buffalo, NY. She served as a volunteer at the YWCA and the Director of the Friendly Visitor Program at Jewish Family Services in Bridgeport, CT. Sharon was the initial Executive Director of the Bridgeport Child Advocacy Coalition. She also held the position of project monitor for the Workplace. She loved traveling with Joe to many European destinations over their 50 years together. Sharon served on the Board of the Center for Family Justice and was dedicated to their mission.
