Shirley Bulkley Meeker, 88, "I'm almost 89.", beloved wife of 64 years of the late Glenn D. Meeker, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Born at her home in Fairfield the daughter of the late Earle and Lillian (Banks) Bulkley, she was raised in Fairfield then lived in Westport and Easton prior to moving to Trumbull nearly five years ago. She was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School. Mrs. Meeker was an active member of the Easton Congregational Church and a member of the Southport Squares. She and her husband Glenn loved travelling the country in their RV. Shirley loved staying active and enjoyed painting and socializing with her many friends. She always looked forward meeting with her friends on Wednesdays where they affectionately referred to themselves as the WAGS. Above all else she will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include two beloved children, Leanne M. Pettit and her husband Donald of Elkhart, IN and Russell A. Meeker of Ellington; three grandchildren, Sarah and her husband Luke Dudley, Kathryn Meeker and her husband Tom Mann and Jeffrey Meeker and his wife Megan; three great-grandchildren, Kailey Townsend, Teagan and Blythe Dudley; a cherished brother, Gordon Bulkley of Fairfield, many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Clifford Bulkley. A memorial service celebrating Shirley's life will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Easton Congregational Church, 336 Westport Road, Easton.
