Suzanne Helen Newing

Suzanne Helen Davidson Newing, of Fairfield, beloved wife of 43 years to the late William Edward Newing passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born September 15, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Kenneth Brooks Davidson and Susan Helen Archer Davidson, she had been a Fairfield resident for 54 years. She graduated from Upper Darby High School and later graduated with honors from Bates College, and worked at Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia. Following her marriage, she and her husband moved to Easton, then to Fairfield. She spent summers on Herron Island in Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. She was an active sailor and skier, loved to travel, and also enjoyed painting and drawing, but the greatest love was for her champion miniature Poodles who were the love of her life as well as her Dobermans, horses and donkey. Mrs. Newing was an active member of the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary for many years, was a former 50 year member of the Patterson Club and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fairfield. She was a member of the Poodle Club of America and the Quinnipiac Poodle Club. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Leslie Anne Newing of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Davidson; a niece, Lynn Davidson Martus and her husband Kevin and their children, Jessica and Erik Martus; a nephew, James Brooks Davidson and his wife Sheila. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Brooks Davidson, Jr. A private graveside service will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours have been omitted.
