Theresa (Musitano) Liuzzo

Theresa Musitano Liuzzo, age 92, of New Haven (formerly of Fairfield) passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022. Theresa was born in Bronx, New York to Francis and Minnie Peet Musitano on November 29, 1929. She is predeceased by her husband, the late Julius Liuzzo, and brother, Frederick Musitano. Theresa is embraced by her children, Raymond Liuzzo and wife Linda Sue, of Fairfield; Vincent Liuzzo and fiancée Donna, of Waterbury; Victor Liuzzo and wife Carmelina, of West Haven; Phyllis Liuzzo Quinn and husband Michael of Blacksburg, Virginia; Francis Liuzzo and fiancée Kathy, of Milford; her cherished grandchildren, Lynette (David) Calkins, Tracy (Bryan) Budnik, Christina, Vincent and Nicholas Liuzzo, Matthew Liuzzo, Michael, Emily, Daniel and Mary Catherine Quinn; her great-grandchildren, Sienna and Savannah Calkins, Brynn and Faye Budnik, Dani Shea Liuzzo; sister-in-law, Josephine Liuzzo; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Born and raised in Bronx, NY, she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Julius, whom she married in 1949. They moved to Fairfield, CT in 1960, where they raised their family. She was a devout long-time parishioner and active volunteer at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she helped with many activities and committees including the Ladies Guild. She had a passion for music and dedicated Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings for 50 years to singing in the St. Pius X Church choir. She was a member of the WICC Singing Sweethearts in the early 1970s. It was during those times of song and laughter that some of her deepest friendships were formed. Theresa loved playing piano, and was self-taught on the baby grand given to her by her parents at a young age. She was a den mother with the Boy Scouts in the 1960s. She loved to dance, sing spontaneously, play card games, and was devoted to the daily mass.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She lived a simple life that centered around her faith in the Lord, and her family. She counted her family utmost among her many blessings. She will always be remembered with great fondness, and loved for her plentiful hugs and kisses, which she freely gave. For in so doing, she showed us how much she loved us all.

A special thank you to all the staff of Mary Wade Home who provided care for our mother.  A special thank you also to CT Hospice for their compassionate care.
