Thomas Fee Hodgman, age 90, passed away in Fairfield, CT, on September 18, 2017, due to old age. He was the loving husband of Mary Morris Hodgman from the date of their marriage on Feb 19, 1955.
Following his graduation from Exeter Academy in February 1945 he reported for duty in the US Navy. Following training he served in the Pacific in the amphibians until his honorable discharge in July 1946.
He graduated from Williams College in the Class of 1950, and joined the work force of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. His next role was to manage a family school furniture business in NYC. Subsequently, he found his favorite vocation; researching and managing publicly held investment securities in client portfolios on behalf of Chemical Bank. He served there in senior positions for 32 years, retiring in 1988 as President of The Portfolio Group, a division of Chemical Bank. Wishing to continue in his favorite vocation, he founded Dock Street Asset Management of Greenwich CT (now of Scarsdale NY), which continues to actively manage investment portfolios for individuals.
Locally, he was closely tied with management of the Southport Congregational Church, and was a past director of the Fairfield Museum and History Center.
He is survived by three children; Thomas Jr. and wife, Karen; Virginia H. Davison and former husband, David; and William and wife, Carol. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Eliza Davison Leach, Trubee Davison, Charles Hodgman and Katie Hodgman. He was preceded in death by his dearly beloved wife of 60 years, Mary, in 2016. He would also like to express deep thanks for the many, recent caregivers, and particularly for Jeanina "Asia" Kordowska and Charmaine Pottinger.
In addition to spending time with family, friends and business associates, Tom loved golf, and the beauty and balance of Nature, particularly that of the Swiss Alps and White Mountains of New Hampshire.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Southport Congregational Church, 524 Pequot Ave., Southport.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that gifts in his name be made to the Southport Congregational Church or the Fairfield Museum and History Center. For information or to offer an online condolence please visit www.SpearMillerFuneralHome.com
