Timothy Michael O'Shea

Timothy Michael O'Shea, age 80, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mary Murray O'Shea and the late Kitty O'Shea, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Portmagee, County Kerry, Ireland the son of the late Daniel and Ellen O'Shea, he came to the United States in 1957. Tim was retired following 31 years of proud service from the United Parcel Service. He was a member of the Gaelic American Club, The Ancient Order of the Hibernians and served as a Steward for Teamsters Local 191. He played Gaelic American Football, both in Ireland and the United States and enjoyed the many friendships he met over the years during competitions. Tim will be lovingly remembered as a hard working gentleman, always willing to help family and friends with any task. He delighted in time spent with his large family, especially his cherished grandchildren. Tim always had a smile on his face and loved giving back to others. Survivors in addition to his wife Mary include three beloved children: Timothy Michael O'Shea, Jr. and his wife Terry of Southington, Colleen O'Shea Coleman and her husband Mark of Newtown and Tara Plourde and her husband Ryan of Shrewsbury, MA; two step-children, Carol Collins and her husband Chris of Trumbull and Brian Murray and his wife Monique of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; 10 cherished grandchildren, Timothy Michael O'Shea, III, Aiden and Piper Coleman, Grant and Brendan Plourde, Ryan, Nora and Jack Collins, Marian and Thomas Murray; seven brothers and sisters, Kitty Keating of Chicago, IL, Josie Butler of Westbury, LI, John Joe Shea and his wife Kay of Seymour, Eileen Boland and her husband Patrick of Fairfield, Donal O'Shea of Luton, England, Margaret Falvey of Cork, Ireland and Michael O'Shea and his wife Margaret of Portmagee, Ireland; and many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife Kitty he was predeceased by a sister, Maureen McDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:30 meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Timothy O'Shea may be made to Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06006.
