Virginia C. Vecsey

Virginia C. Vecsey, age 74, of Monroe, formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Regional Hospice in Danbury. Born in Bridgeport, the only child of the late Joseph Vecsey and Winifred (Winnie) Middlebrook Vecsey Benko she had lived in Fairfield all her life prior to moving to Monroe in 1996. She graduated from Andrew Warde High School, class of 1968 and attended the University of Connecticut, Housatonic College and the University of Bridgeport. Virginia retired in 2009 following 30 years of service as a Math Teacher at Central High School, and proudly received the Bridgeport Teacher of the Year award in 1998. She worked for many years for the College Boards training teachers throughout the country. She was a member of the Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association. In her spare time, Virginia loved taking cruises, going to California and Florida to visit the Disney locations, to name a few. Virginia was a teacher who truly cared for her students; helping many achieve acceptance to prestigious colleges and universities. Ginny received accolades from numerous students over the years for her help and guidance in achieving their life’s ambitions and goals. She will be sadly missed by her lifelong dear friend, Elizabeth L. Farina of Fairfield. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport.
