Warren J. Rozelle

WARREN JAMES ROZELLE of Fairfield, CT, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.   Born on December 17, 1940 in Scranton, PA, Warren was the only child of the late Albert and Millicent Rozelle.   Warren was predeceased by his one and only true love, his wife of 62 years, Patricia Blake Rozelle of Fairfield, CT as well as his beloved infant daughter, Theresa.    Warren is survived by his son, Mark Rozelle and his wife Susan of Easton; his daughter Patricia Jurgielewicz and her husband David of Easton; his daughter Darlene Dowgiallo and her husband Joseph of Fairfield and his son James Rozelle and his wife Denise of Fairfield.  He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Blake Rozelle, Andrew and Dana Jurgielewicz, Joseph and Bryce Dowgiallo and Owen and Madison Rozelle, and many extended family including his sisters-in-laws Shirley Jennings of Shelton and Eileen Savulski of Fairfield, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Warren had been a Fairfield resident since 1945 but considered the Rozelle family farm in Fleetville, PA his second home.  He shared many cherished memories of his time working on the family dairy farm alongside his grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins.

Warren had a successful career as the Controller of St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 25 years before becoming the Director of Accounting Operations for Bridgeport Diocesan Health Care, retiring in 2001.

Warren was a hardworking man who put family above all else.  Married at the age of 17, he worked tirelessly to support his young family, at one time working three jobs, all the while attending college at the University of Bridgeport, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  At an early age, Warren learned hard work, perseverance and superb customer service skills through his job as a paper carrier for the Bridgeport Post, a job he was proud to hold for over 20 years.  His children are also most proud of their parents role as foster parents, whereby they provided a safe, loving and nurturing home to 13 foster children, all while raising a family of their own.

In retirement, Warren loved spending time with Pat, his constant companion.  They enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping and lunch at the Marina.  He was an avid reader, a continual learner, and enjoyed dabbling in the stock market.  Warren was also a devoted and active member of Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church in Fairfield for over 50 years and leaves behind many cherished friends.

Warren leaves behind a legacy of hard work and a loving spirit.  His family and friends will remember him for his patience, his sense of humor and his strong will, having battled cancer for over 20 years.    Warren most adored spending time with his family and was immensely proud of each and every one of them.

Warren had great faith and spoke freely of his relationship with the Lord.  His family takes comfort in knowing that Pat and Warren are reunited again in heaven.

According to Warren’s wishes, services at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield will be private.
