Willard E. Dwinells, Jr. (Bill), age 80 of Fairfield, beloved husband and soul mate for 61 years of Mary Ann (Sue) Fekete Dwinells peacefully went to Heaven to join his parents and his beloved priest, the late Rev. Robert Nemeth Sunday, December 3, 2017 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Bridgeport the son of the late Willard and Lucy Dwinells, he had been a Fairfield resident for most of his life. Bill was employed for the Connecticut Department of Transportation as a bridge tender and snow plow operator, and also worked part-time with his brother for Dwinells Brothers Drilling & Blasting and for Nazarro Brothers Construction. He always worked hard to provide for his family and to help others. He was a dedicated long-time parishioner of St. Emery Church where he was a member of the Men's League. Bill helped run the church Bingo and could also be seen performing handyman jobs around St. Emery. Bill also loved working around his home and always had projects planned to keep him busy. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends and was a lifelong devoted NY Yankees and football Giants fan. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Sue include three beloved children, Teresa Ann Kovack and her husband Shane of Connellsville, PA, Willard E. Dwinells, III and his wife Laura of Trumbull and Cynthia Gross and her husband Derald of Pierre, SD; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy Dwinells and his wife Polly of Bethel; 3 brothers-in-law, Robert Fekete and his wife Patricia of Fairfield who provided tremendous support to Bill and Sue during his illness, James Fekete and his fiancé Suzanne of New Milford and Deacon Thomas Fekete and his wife Diane of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway East, Fairfield. Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday from 3-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
