William Gergely, Jr.

William Gergely Jr., 79, of Monroe, beloved husband of Ruth MacCormack Gergely, passed away on January 22, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was born in Bridgeport Connecticut, the son of the late William and Pauline Gergely. He graduated from Bassick HS in 1953 and then continued his education at the University of Bridgeport, graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked at Pitney Bowes and ASML. Bill loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family and enjoyed all the family gatherings. He is survived by his wife Ruth, children Christine Cascella and husband Tony of Southbury, Bill Gergely III of North Carolina, Jamie Bruno and husband Jim of Fairfield, and grandchildren Alicia, Mitchell, Megan, Blythe, Bo and Tanner. He will also be missed by his sister Dolores Mylen, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Gergely Beigel. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the care given by the nurses and staff on the 9th floor of St. Vincent's Medical Center. Friends may call on Monday, January 26th from 9-11 am at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A funeral service will follow at 11am.
