Yvette Jeanette Skutel

Yvette Jeanette Lambert Skutel, a longtime resident of Southport and Fairfield, the beloved wife of John Skutel, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family Friday, March 18, 2016. Yvette graduated from The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, Milford, in 1944. She and John were married on November 9, 1946. Yvette devoted her life to her family and placed an enormous amount of value on her children's education. She worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant in the Development Office at Fairfield University. She was an active member of both the Bellarmine Guild of Fairfield Prep and the St. Thomas Auxiliary Guild of St. Thomas Parish. She was a parishioner for many years of St. Pius X Church. Yvette cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was proud of each and every one of them. Survivors in addition to her loving husband John include four beloved children, John Jr. and wife Mary Berney, Stephen and wife Eleanor, Susan Gunther, and Francine and husband Edward Detmer; 8 grandchildren, Sarah Skutel Holden and husband Scott. Maia Skutel Jensen and husband Matthew, Leah Skutel and fiancé Joshua Chrzanowski, Evan Skutel, Troy Gunther and wife Alexandra Fiedler, Brooke Gunther Bonasiak and husband Christopher, Amy Detmer and fiancé Ryan Shaw, and Josh Detmer and partner Taylor Vavra; 8 great-grandchildren, Ella Holden, Asher Holden, Ethan Holden, Cate Yvette Holden, Ava Jensen, Griffin Jensen, and Kylie Detmer.
